Dark Drones Party (announcement).

When everybody whines about the delayed spring and dreams about sun, warmth and entertainment, why shouldn’t we yet again “finger everything and everyone” and delve into nihilistic, misanthropic mood and thoughts that have overwhelmed us during wintertime? More so, as we are never ever going to have spring again. The event comfortably tagged by media as tsunami was in fact a nuclear war and now we experience a post-apocalyptic polar winter which will stay here for ages. You will soon realise that when all the official versions are depleted. Depression – that is the short-term perspective for all of us caused by something more than just a mere lack of light or excess of cold.

On 8 April, 2005 (Friday) joint forces of Autarkeia and club “Vault” will hold a concert of dark, depressing electronic music, featured by guests from Germany – Melanchoholics, a well-known Lithuanian project of electronic music Donis and McKaras’ project Drama which is rare to occur and please the music gourmands. Mood of the audience will be further deteriorated by the notorious :):):) DJ Lashisha who will be mixing a medley of “industrial”, “dark ambient”, “martial”.

Project of Melanchoholics emerged in 2001 with the main idea to create slow, brooding, depressing music. The creators seek to reveal the extreme conditions of a person: torturous inner phobias, psychosis, intoxication, depression, and by doing that, they wish the audience to taste the romantics and horror of despair. As the musicians themselves have put it, this is a ticket to “bad trip” where you will feel yourself surrendering to the demons of modern times. By putting together electric and “low-end” bass guitars with a mixture of “lo-fi electronics” Melanchoholics have found their specific depressing sound which can hardly be squeezed into strict boundaries of music styles. Mixtures of sound is a seamless experiment and an odd synthesis of “dark psychedelic ambient”, “trip hop”, “dark hop”. Since 2001, Melanchoholics have put together a single album which was toured in Germany, Norway, and Switzerland.

The composer of the project Donis will deliver a set of “dark ambient”, a taste of which could have already been felt by the patients in the issue of Autarkeia – Donis “Vacuum”, while McKaras’ “Drama” will doubtlessly encroach on the weaker-nerves audience. A rare selection of recordings will be for sale during the concert.
