“POWEREVER” – aggressive ideology of noise. (announcement)

Music is an expression of unlimited creative freedom, actualized in Sunday greeting concerts for some, and in chaotic noise, sounds made by various technical devices or even human organs for the other. Wrapped in a suit of hard aggressive electronic consonances, it becomes an expression of psychedelic “industrial” subculture, presented at the unique festival of extreme music “Powerever”.

Noise becomes a mover of culture.

“Powerever” is the first festival of the hardest electronic music “power electronics” in the history of Lithuania and the Baltic states. The final concert of the world tour “Break Your Face” is arranged in Lithuania by the promoters of industrial subculture – “Autarkeia” company to introduce the stars of the U.S.A. “power electronics” – “Slogun”, “Control”, “Sickness” and “Skm-Etr”. Donis as a representative of local electronic music will also join them on the stage.

According to Lashisha – Paulius Katkevičius, a representative of “Autarkeia” company that organized phenomenal concerts of “Deutch Nepal” and “Aube”, “Powerever” will introduce to Lithuanian audience still alien “industrial” subculture and its' most aggressive trend – fierce noise music style “power electronics”.

The philosophy of this extreme “industrial” subculture, that regards no restrictions and taboos and has originated from punk-nihilist movement, is based on aggressive discussion with all the domains of cultural, social and political life.

“Power electronics” music, that reminds more of psychedelic distortion of various sounds or just of the sound of a train, attempts to shock and to affect a spectator by various means. Creating sound based on chaotic noise, and images based on porno, animation or war documentary, it pulsates with aggressive power of electronic music, protesting in that way against mass culture and consumer society.

“Power electronics” is a subculture of economically well-developed countries. It is the philosophy of total shock, compensating defects of electronic music with strong cultural ideology; therefore, a spectator coming to “Powerever” must be ready for everything.

                                 Criticism of American culture.

A live concert “Powerever” will take place in an underground club “Vault” in the capital; the address is: Subačiaus str. 99. This hard electronic music club established in a former military bunker is the most suitable place for the expression of “power electronics” conception.

The greatest star of the event is “Slogun” – the project of the legendary “power electronics” composer John Balisteri. The philosophy of “Slogun”, that exist more than a decade, is related to a typical phenomenon of American culture – serial killers; therefore the object of the project is a TRUE CRIME. Pessimistic moods and criticism of the American society and culture are obviously present in the lyrics by John Balisteri. The artist claims that the world is far worse than it is reflected in mass media. Society indulges in violence on TV, but facing it in the reality, society gets surprised that it actually exists.

“Slogun” use sound, images and direct contact to shock the public. Being among the spectators, John Balisteri hustles through the crowd, screams and harshly discusses with his audience. In this way the composer of “power electronics” attempts to shock and to constrain a spectator and to make him/her feel insecure.

“Sickness” project is a work of on the promoter of “noise” style Chris. It is the most extreme and brutal electronic music product in the U.S.A. The name of the project came from never-ending Chris’ sicknesses in his childhood. Odd philosophy of the performer is based on the belief that tremendous influence and financial power of pharmaceutical companies is founded on human sicknesses that change the world.

“Control” is a project of the representative of psychedelic “power electronics” Tom Harrison. The work is based on slower but certainly not more moderate philosophy of noise, and on depressive misanthropic spirit.

The youngest participant of “Powerever” “Skm-Etr” will demonstrate innovative “power electronics” music variations. This performer has been tremendously influenced by “hip hop” style, and he presents its’ best features through the prism of “power electronics”.

Lithuanian industrial subculture will be represented by "Donis" – Donatas Bielkauskas, who is going to offer to the audience an acute program this time. The creative works of this universal artist that combines electronics and live folk instruments are based on ancient Baltic culture and world-view; therefore the main reason for the Lithuanian to participate in the event is an attempt to compare the level of differently developed “industrial” subcultures.
